The city of Camas has named Scott Collins as its next public works director.

Collins, the city of Washougal’s engineer and deputy public works director, will assume his new role on Oct. 15, according to a news release.

“Scott checked all the boxes in terms of what we were looking for in our next public works director,” Mayor Steve Hogan said in the news release. “While we had a phenomenal pool of candidates, Scott’s background and skill set will help provide us with current success and will be integral for future success as well. We’re very excited to welcome him to the team and his commute won’t be bad either.”

Collins has served as the city of Washougal’s engineer and deputy public works director since 2022. Previously, he worked for the city of Modesto, Calif., as a traffic engineer, traffic operations engineer and assistant civil engineer.

“I’m very excited to start my role as Camas’ next Public Works director,” Collins said in the news release. “My family and I moved to the Pacific Northwest three years ago and we’re proud to call Camas home. I love the strong culture this city has established and look forward to contributing to the continued success of the community I live in.”

Born and raised in Mountain View, Calif., Collins holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the Pacific. He is a licensed civil engineer in California and Washington.
