Cohen Butler of Camas wins NXR Northwest cross country championships

Camas senior Cohen Butler added another victory to his senior cross country season by placing first in the Nike Cross Regional Northwest Championships on Saturday in Spokane.

Butler, the reigning Washington 4A individual champion, won the regional title by covering the 5,000-meter course at the Spokane Polo Grounds in 14 minutes, 36.80, beating out Garrett Faught of Central Point, Ore., (14:38.0) and Jayden Warner of Warrenton, Ore. (14:39.8).

With the win, Butler will advance to the Nike Cross Nationals, which will be held Saturday, Dec. 6 at Glendoveer Golf Course in Portland.

Butler was competing with Camas teammates running under the club name of Milltown Project.

Other Milltown Project runners were Payten Jones (116th, 16:06), Andrew Helt (138th, 16:24), Mason Strogen (151st, 16:34), Keane Cooper (164th, 16:47), Carson Chambers (173rd, 16:57) and Jack Greif (187th, 17:14).

Milltown Project also had a team in the girls championship division led by Brianna Mazilu, who finished 63rd in 18:32. Other Milltown runners were Kate Westfall (76th, 18:40), Elizabeth Nava (87th, 18:48), Natalie Estrada (136th, 19:19), Eva McGeachy (161st, 19:52), Olivia Jones (162nd, 19:53) and Lily Collett (189th, 20:55).
