As the winner of the 2025 World Beer Cup award for Best Imperial India Pale Ale, Grains of Wrath Brewing knows a thing or two about creating high-quality IPAs.

Now, the Camas-based brewery is celebrating its love of these bright, hop-heavy beers with the inaugural Legends of the West Beer Fest, a one-day celebration of exclusive West Coast IPAs, from 2-8 p.m. July 12 at its production facility in the Port of Camas-Washougal industrial park.

The event will feature rare West Coast IPAs crafted by more than 30 renowned and emerging breweries, live music and local food trucks.

“We had a goal of getting the heaviest hitters from around the country out here, bringing beers that aren’t normally distributed up here,” said Brendan Greenen, Grains of Wrath’s co-owner and operation manager. “It’s kind of a one-time drop thing. It’s rare. It’s exclusive. It’s fun.”

The event will also feature several regional breweries, including Trap Door Brewing (Vancouver and Washougal), Loowit Brewing (Vancouver), pFreim Family Brewers (Hood River, Ore.), Boneyard Beer (Bend, Ore.) and Cloudburst Brewing (Seattle) in addition to breweries from California, Colorado, Ohio and Texas.

“We’re absolutely stoked with how it’s come together and the people that have committed to it,” Greenen said.

A West Coast IPA is a type of India pale ale known for its bold hop aroma, high bitterness and clean, dry finish. These beers are characterized by their bright, clear appearance and prominent citrus and pine flavors derived from American hops like Cascade, Chinook and Centennial.

“West Coast IPAs all come down to how you treat the hops and the grain bill that you use,” Greenen said. “It’s got to be clean and crisp and not super malt-heavy. It’s got to be a showcase for the hops that you’re using. They’re not intensely bitter. It’s all bright flavors and aromas, and you can get so much variety out of the hops.”

Greenen and Mike Hunsaker, Grains of Wrath’s co-owner and head brewer, said they’re also excited to show off their Washougal facility, which opened in September.

Located in the Washougal industrial park’s Building 20, the facility includes 6,600 square feet of space, which holds a four-vessel, 20-barrel brew house, four 60-barrel fermenters and a 60-barrel brite tank. The facility is located at 4035 Grant St., Unit 110, Washougal.

Tickets are on sale now for the July 12 event and will cost $60 per person. Tickets will be available on the day of the event at the door for $75 or $25 for designated drivers.
