‘Bringing dollars into the local economy’

From the more than 2,900 hours its volunteers contributed to improving the city of Camas’ historic downtown district to the nearly $30,000 worth of facade improvement grants and $5,800 mural investment on Northeast Cedar Street, the Downtown Camas Association (DCA) clocked some significant accomplishments in 2023.

Public hearing set for ‘stealth’ cell tower

A Camas hearings examiner will consider granting a conditional-use permit to construct an AT&T “stealth-designed” cellular tower at a public hearing set for 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Camas City Hall, 616 N.E. Fourth Ave. Camas.

Nearly three years after PeaceHealth acquired the Lacamas Medical Group in Camas, the healthcare provider has announced it is closing its Camas-based clinic effective Dec. 15.

Camas OKs full Crown Park remodel

The majority of the Camas City Council said this week that they support moving forward with renovations for all of Crown Park instead of taking a piecemeal approach or halting the master planning project altogether.

The Camas City Council this week unanimously approved a revised 2024 budget that postpones the hiring of more than two dozen city staff positions, including eight firefighters, two police sergeants and a parks project manager.

Planned Crown Park remodel enters final stretch

It has been five years after Camas officials first approved a master plan for the city’s historic Crown Park, and two years since city council members — previously stymied by COVID-19 pandemic restrictions on public construction projects — affirmed their interest in redesigning the entire park, but now the long-awaited remodel of Camas’ “outdoor living room” is on the cusp of realization.
